This post help you go beyond the four wheels for the most stunning views, on the most spectacular driving routes of the country
Get started on the road
It’s a fact that when you rent a car in a country like UK which is home to a myriad of picturesque stretches, you automatically get carried away with the scenic routes. Taking a route that offers breathtaking views and vistas, or a bumpy rollercoaster ride, make you return home with a whole bunch of unforgettable memories.
Grab an affordable car hire in UK and enjoy the great outdoors of the country upon arrival. Having just said that, you can also park your car alongside a road and go for bushwalking, or you may find a nice place to enjoy picnicking with your kids.
Here are some best scenic drives of the country.
High Peak, Derbyshire
Take your car from the A624, and you will reach both roads – Winnats Pass (left) and Snake Pass.
The Winnats, meaning ‘wind gates’, passes through the Hope valley and offers great views of the nature before you land up down towards Castleton. The rugged limestone in the close vicinity is a national trust property and often visited by scientists.
Snake Pass road too is owned by the National Trust. As you go off the head of the beautiful valley, which is 512 meters above the sea level, you enter the heart of the outback and remoteness of the country.
Malham to Ribblesdale
As you leave from Malham, the road seems on a higher level. You can park your car to reach Malham Cove on foot – it is a huge semi-circle shaped limestone cliff and near to it is Malharm Tarn, which is the highest lake of England.
Once you reach the peak of the road, the road shrinks and the cragged limestone appears and makes you feel the remoteness of the region. Perhaps the only living creature you will see is sheep; so the road is yours! Horton-in-Ribblesdale is perched on the Pennine Way offering great views from the top, particularly for those who love hiking.
Alnwick to Kielder
Departing from Alnwick, you will soon reach to a stretch of land offering scenic views of the Northumberland coastline. Moving ahead, you will pass through the Victoria railway viaduct at Edlingham, the National Trust’s Cragside forest and some charming small villages before you reach Kielder Water, the largest artificial lake of Europe.
Garden of England, Kent
Begin your journey from Leeds Castle, which is famous as the loveliest castle in the world and you will just encounter the heart-stopping beauty. The town of Lenham dates back to roman age. This picturesque village has two rivers and has plenty of footpaths making it an ideal place for walking!
