The Common Admission Test (CAT) examinations are knocking at the door. As aspirants gear up to bell the CAT, new management institutes are also trying to include their names in the list of colleges. Read on to know more.
Well, as you gear up for cracking one of the most difficult entrance examination, the Common Admission Test or the CAT as it is popularly known as, a drop in this year?s percentage of students might make it an easy affair.
Whether it becomes easier or the trials remain the same, over time the list of institutes accepting CAT scores have increased considerably. As per the latest updates on the CAT website, this year , the numbers of colleges participating have gone up to 114. Though the list is yet to be updated, however, some of the leading institutes and some new colleges have enrolled for this year?s CAT.
Traditionally, the Indian Institutes of Management have been known to conduct and accept CAT scores. While commenting on the accomplishment of CAT , the Convener of the exam, Mr. Rohit Kapoor commented that the list of participating colleges for CAT this year was initially slated at 85. This has now gone up to 114 with more non-IIMs rapidly referring to CAT scores. It was also found that many of the Indian Institutes of Technologies (IITs), their management departments, are in the process of signing a MoU with the authorities to be included in the list of CAT Participating Institutes. The authorities have also said that, the list of Participating Institutes will also be in place, right in time, so that CAT takers know what to do and how to go about applying for the institutes.
Among the participant colleges, the IIMs do take away all the laurels. However, given below is a list of all the new entrants among the top new Indian Business Schools accepting CAT 13-14 scores
Indian Institutes of Management at Udaipur, Tiruchirapalli and Kashipur
IIM Udaipur happens to be the latest Indian Business School to join the elite bandwagon; the institute continues in its endeavours to keep up the values and of course adhere to the excellence in terms of academics.
IIM Tiruchirapalli, founded a little before IIM Udaipur, initially conducted operations from the National Institute of Technology?s campus. Its present campus is located barely 12 kilometres away from the Tiruchirapalli airport. Its main objective is to develop young professionals who would be competent in working in various sectors.
IIM Kashipur in Uttaranchal was founded under the mentorship of IIM Lucknow. Today coveted as one of the leading B-Schools in India, IIM Kashipur is a major participant of CAT this year.
Another institute to join the bandwagon is IIM Rohtak. This institute also happens to be a new entrant and following the footsteps of its predecessors, the institute has been ranking high in terms of academic excellence and placement opportunities.
Among the new players in the participant colleges of CAT scores, given below are a list:
Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi
Established in 1967 with a separate identity, the Department of Commerce, DU has imbibed the robust infrastructure of the DSE. In its history spanning for years together, it has redefined higher education in Commerce in the country. This has led to the institute offering post graduate degrees in management studies and of course opting for accepting the CAT scores.
Department of Business Administration, Tezpur University, Assam
The Department of Business Administration at Tezpur University was founded only a decade ago. Initially adhering to other management entrance examinations, the department opted for CAT Scores very recently. So, from now on students who want to seek admission in the north-eastern part of the country, Tezpur University?s Department of Business Administration is a good option.
School of Management, University of Pondicherry University
Founded nearly three decades ago, Pondicherry University?s School of Management is another new participant in the CAT score card. After which the department holds a general Group Discussion and a Personal Interview.
Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior
Commonly termed as IIITM Gwalior, this institute has now started accepting CAT scores. Lying at the foothills of the Gwalior Fort, this institute not only offers a grand residential campus but also multiple management courses.
Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal
An autonomous institute, Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal was founded with assistance from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. One of the new participant colleges accepting CAT scores, the institute?s flagship courses are Post Graduate Diploma in Forest Management and MPhil in Natural Resource Management.
The rush to join the CAT bandwagon continues among management institutes who aspire to become the best in whatever they claim. Other institutes that are noteworthy in this regard are National Institute of Banking Management (NIBM) Pune, Institute of Rural Management, Anand, Gujarat; Institute of Management Technology, Hyderabad.
Currently, the lists of participant colleges stand at 114. Over time this is expected to increase considerably.
