How to Create a Beautiful and Relaxing Bedroom
Creating the perfect, tranquil bedroom can make all the difference to how well you sleep and therefore how energetic and happy you feel when you are awake. In this article, we will be discussing how you can decorate your bedroom to make it a more peaceful and calming place to be.
De-clutter
Even if you don’t consider yourself to be a minimalist and are not fond of overly empty spaces, it is a good idea to opt for the ‘less is more approach’ when decorating a bedroom. There is no doubt clutter in the bedroom can make it more difficult to relax. Piles of laundry, books, computers, televisions, paperwork and various other bits and bobs should be left out of the bedroom, as this type of distracting clutter will only serve to make the space look ‘busy’. On top of this, if your laptop or television is just a few feet away from your bed, you are far more likely to end up watching TV shows or working late into the night, even if your original intention was to get to bed early. If you are short on space elsewhere in the home and therefore can’t put all this type of clutter in another room, it is a good idea to invest in a few key storage pieces for your bedroom, which will keep these bits and pieces out of sight until you need to use them. If you love to watch some TV before you hit the hay, then consider buying a cabinet with some sliding doors, so the television cannot be seen as soon as you walk into the room.
Colour
Colour plays an important role when it comes to decorating your bedroom; the paint for the wall and the colour of the soft furnishings you choose will all have a considerable effect on how calming the bedroom looks and feels. Opt for calming pastel shades, or neutral creams, beiges and browns. Lavender, pale blue or mint are all excellent choices for the walls of a bedroom. However, if you love deep, rich jewel tones and would still like to incorporate them into the space, you can always add in a few red, emerald or royal blue cushions or throws. Remember, keep these to a minimum, as too many colours and bold patterns will not make a relaxing space. You can easily find cheap duvet covers, curtains and throws, in pastel and neutral shades, online.
Add In Some Key DDcor Accessories
Whilst too much clutter can spoil the look of a bedroom, a few carefully chosen decorative items can have a wonderfully calming effect. One or two houseplants are a lovely way to add some pretty greenery into the room. Likewise, a small windchime hung by the window will create a relaxing tinkle every time the breeze blows. If you have wooden floors or a rather threadbare carpet, a plush rug is another nice way to create a more sanctuary-like space. These items, when used along with neutral or pastel cheap duvet covers and curtains, will create the perfect space in which to unwind and get a good night’s rest.
