Bridesmaids Dresses

Alright, now, this is some very heavy stuff we are about to talk about. We realize that you want your wedding day to come off as near perfect as possible. And that means searching for and hiring high quality vendors and purchasing the perfect items that will be needed to pull off your big day. Obviously, you are going to do all you can to find the perfect wedding dress. But what about your bridesmaids’ dresses? This can be tricky so you will probably want some advice. The last thing you want is to make your bridesmaids wear something that will make them look absolutely hideous. They will not appreciate it believe us. And why lose a great friendship over a dress? So, we suggest that you take your time with this search and make sure that you are in the right frame of mind. Here are some tips as to what your priorities should be when looking for your bridesmaids’ dresses.

First of all, take a long look at the wedding gown that you have chosen for yourself. How would you characterize the style of your dress? Is it classic, modern, would you say it is vintage or cutting edge? This is important because you want to make sure that your bridesmaids’ dresses are chosen with the same style idea in mind. If the styles clash then you and your bridesmaids are going to look awfully silly up there as you say your vows. Another consideration is the skin tone of your bridesmaids. Keep in mind that not every color suits every skin tone. Even if you have a range of skin tones from fair to olive to dark, try to choose a dress color that will flatter all of them. We should point out hair color as well because that can also be a consideration. If you have a redhead in your group, try and choose something that will not clash. There are color palettes that will work with everyone.

Another important factor when it comes to picking out your bridesmaids’ dresses is the season and time of day that your wedding will take place. For instance, if your wedding is going to be in the fall, be ready to look for fall tones in terms of everything that will decorate your wedding and that includes your bridesmaids’ dresses. In terms of getting input from your bridesmaids, there are different schools of thought. Some experts feel that too many opinions just muddies the water and can put you in an awful position. You know your bridesmaids better than anyone does and you will need to make that decision. If you are fine with it, then it quite possibly could be fine. An interesting caveat to this point involves looking for dress brands that offer similar dresses with different necklines. If you wanted to allow some input from your bridesmaids, you could pick the color and fabric of a dress line and allow each bridesmaid to choose the neckline and style that is most flattering to her body type.

One thing that you do want to absolutely avoid at all costs is succumbing to the temptation to dress your bridesmaids in something hideous so that you look amazing by comparison. Think about if you were in their position. No one likes to look awful or unsexy in what they are wearing. So, if you want to continue to be good friends with everyone in your bridal party, keep this in mind. There is nothing wrong with the dresses that you pick out for them complementing your gown and in fact that is the way it is supposed to work. Also, consider the different shapes and sizes of your bridesmaids. Not all styles are going to flatter them so look for something that is going to look good on all body types.

And here is something that many people do not think of. Your bridesmaids are doing this because they love you and they want to support you on your big day. Why not do something really nice for them as a way of saying thank you by finding dresses that they would like to wear again long after your wedding has come and gone. The last thing that you should do is purchase a dress that they wouldn’t be caught dead in after your wedding is over. And speaking of purchasing, if you have an agreement with your bridesmaids that their dress is going to be in a certain price range and you fall in love with a dress that costs more, you should cover the difference. In the end, if you are doing anything out of the ordinary in terms of a dress style, you might want to check with your bridal party to make sure that they feel comfortable in such a dress. More than anything, have fun with your search and if you have picked the right people to be part of your bridal party and everyone is thoughtful of each other, everyone can stand with you looking absolutely fabulous together.
